ABOUT IC4NS

OUR CONCERNS

This web site offers something for all who are concerned about Newtown Township with regard to major current, proposed, and future development of property along with loss of our assets, our character, and our protection of them.

Just as important, the website offers something for all concerned about our children's and adult education, how our taxes are used to suport it, and employment opportunities for them after graduation or completion of a certification program.  Regarding this last point, the website offers associations, organizations, and businesses the opportunity to partner and collaborate with a school(s), community college, or satellite extension(s) of a college/university located in Newtown Township.

The nature of this relationship is to help mentor and coach individuals along a career path and to develop students that are prepared with tailored and specific skills required by either a specific or type(s) of organization(s) or business(es) seeking to hire highly qualified graduating high school or college students, adult students, or certified individuals.

There are different levels of membership (MEMBERSHIPS) because an individual might be:

  • interested in just the informational sources provided on the website, or
  • interested in some services provided by the website and not others, or
  • in another professional organization and wants to join for some services but only if conflicts of interest with or within their organization can be avoided, or
  • a business person wants to join for some services but only if a conflict of interest with their customers or clients or within their business can be avoided, or
  • part of a private industry group that may be interested in ensuring that our schools are teaching skills to our K-12 school students, college students, adult students or certified individuals that would eliminate the need to retrain them on the job and; therefore, would contribute tutoring or other services, equipment, software, hardware, network/internet support, scholarships, funding, etc. to our schools.

OUR DEVELOPMENT VALUES

Vigorously oppose development that would:

  • ZONING - Be inconsistent with the character of the surrounding zoning land areas
  • TRAFFIC - Substantially increase traffic congestion on streets to such a high degree of probability that it will adversely affect the health, safety and welfare of the community
  • PROPERTY VALUES - Be detrimental to other properties in the area
  • OPEN SPACE/DENSITY - Overcrowd the land or create and undue congestion of population
  • PUBLIC SYSTEM IMPACTS - Subsantially burden the transortation, water, sewers, groundwater, school, parks and other facilities; and/or otherwise adversely affect the public health, safety, morals or public welfare
  • WATER QUANTITY/QUALITY - Adversely affect the quantity/quality of our water bodies, groundwater, and water supply
  • STORMWATER MANAGEMENT- Impair stormwater controls, create undue amount of impervious surfaces, or cause soil erosion
  • AIR QUALITY - Impair the healty, safety, and welfare of individuals and residents due to an adequate supply of clean air and adequate light to adjacent and nearby property
  • NOISE - Impair the health, safety, and welfare of the individuals and residents in adjacent and nearby properties
  • PARKING - Adversely affect off-street parking
  • IDENTITY - affect the character of the imediate neighborhood by failing to conserve the values of existing buildings not encourage the most appropriate use of the land
  • AESTETICS - Fail to provide architecture of buildings and surrounding impervious surfaces in harmony with existing character of the Township

VISION
Making the invisible visible: do you see what I see? SM

Often what is not said is more important that what is said. This is also true when one point of view illuminates a deeper level of understanding than that of another seemingly equivalent point of view.  Therefore, this web site will provide insights into how important problems and issues may be perceived when looked upon from different perspectives from the viewpoints of various individuals and residents.  These perspectives will explore various aspects of major concerns regarding land develpment and education issues(s): goals, objectives, and policies; data and information available; emotional components; and the pros and cons aspects.  When viewed from these different lenses  or filters and thought about collectively from many, if not all, individuals concerned for Newtown Square, our rights (and not just the rights of the developers and other groups) can be preserved or at least rationally addressed.  From this collaboration and discussion practical, innovative, and creative solutions can be developed and proposed to eliminate, resolve, or at least mitigate the impacts and costs to our many public service systems, our schools, and our health, safety, and welfare as well as our taxes.

MISSION
Connecting the Dots.

There are many relationships that can be defined among the various data and informational items relevant to the issue(s) or problems(s) being considered.  While the web site will provide a case for the relationships it esouses, the intent isto providedataand indormational sources from which individuals concerned for Newwtwn Square cannot only evaluate the positionesoused by the web site but can also determine their own postion from a common set of accurate, timely data and informaion available to all.
GOAL

Use this website to provide a dynamic example of our civic responsibility to ourselves, our children, our neighbors, other Townships and other citizens of this great country - THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
